Busy Memorial Day weekend at Lake Mead with water levels higher than past years
Water levels more in line with the average Memorial Day on Lake Mead led to a bustling boating weekend, according to lakegoers and shopkeepers.
Hundreds of American flags were displayed at Cornerstone Park in Henderson for Memorial Day to honor the sacrifices made by those who served our country.
A 25-acre wildfire is burning in the mountains about 20 miles southwest of Las Vegas. According to Nevada Wildfire Information, the fire in Blue Springs was reported around 11:40 a.m. and is south of State Route 160 where it intersects with State Route 159. The closest town is Mountain Springs.
Dozens of people attended a special ceremony Monday at The Lakes to honor and pay tribute to America's fallen soldiers on Memorial Day.
While many will gather to celebrate the holiday with loved ones and a bite to eat, others will pay tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice. Bunker Funeral Homes and Cemeteries held a Memorial Day service on Monday morning at Woodlawn Cemetery.
According to Las Vegas Metropolitan police, the woman was crossing outside of a marked crosswalk around 12:30 a.m. on Buffalo Drive at Badura Avenue, south of the 215 Beltway, when she was hit by 30-year-old Yaniv Herscovici who was driving a Mazda CX-5 in the northbound lane of Buffalo.
